(super late) FOMO-A-Thon TBR!

Hey guys! Today's post is going to be my a list of the books I want to read for FOMO-a-thon happening this weekend, a last-minute readathon created by the lovely Chelsea. (FOMO is, if you didn't know, Fear Of Missing Out.) Also it started yesterday but here I am, posting my TBR today. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In case you didn't know, BookNetFest is happening this weekend in Florida. Basically, BookNetFest is just this festival with a bunch of other book people which is just so freaking awesome??? Like there's booktubers, bookstagrammers, book bloggers, the gang's all there. And this readathon is for those who sadly cannot attend this year ☹. Anyway, let's get into my TBR.

NEVERNIGHT BY JAY KRISTOFF

After many people forcing this book down my throat to read it, I've finally picked this book up. I'm not very far into it at all, but holy crap so far it's AMAZING!

DRESS CODES FOR SMALL TOWNS BY COURTNEY STEVENS

I heard about this book RIGHT after I made that list of my anticipated books for August. So that's annoying. BUT ANYWAY, I'm a few pages into this one as well and oh my GOSH it is so good so far! Also it's super diverse?? Which is pretty great. As far as I know, it doesn't really have much of a plot, but the main character Billie is just exploring her sexuality and gender. AND I'M TOTALLY UP FOR ANY BOOK LIKE THAT.

BLUE LILY, LILY BLUE BY MAGGIE STIEFVATER

ICYMI, literally today I finished The Dream Thieves. And OH MY GOD IT'S THE. FREAKING. BEST. SO NOW I NEED TO READ THE REST OF THE SERIES ASAP. I hope it's still super good. (But tbh I don't think it's even possible for the other two to live up to The Dream Thieves.)

It was a pretty good retelling, but overall I was pretty disappointed, as it has so much hype.

Started out thrilling and suspenseful but went downhill, though I do really like the characters a lot.

THE AUGUST TBR

August is a very busy month for me, so I'm going to be putting very few books on my TBR that seem to be quick, easy reads.

1. LITTLE & LION BY BRANDY COLBERT

I already talk about this book in my Anticipated Releases of August and September post, so I won't be going into the synopsis of Little & Lion, but I am super excited to start it.

2. 10 THINGS I CAN SEE FROM HERE BY CARRIE MAC

This book was released in February and I've had it since then, eagerly awaiting to pick it up. But for some weird reason, I haven't. What the hell is wrong with me? I mean, it's about a queer girl with anxiety, what more could I need in a book?

August / September 2017 Releases | MOST ANTICIPATED

Hello everyone! Today's post will be all about my most anticipated releases of August and September. I would do separate posts for August and September, but in both months there are only so many books that I'm excited for, so I decided to combine them into one list.

THE AUGUST RELEASES

1. LITTLE & LION BY BRANDY COLBERT

I hardly know ANYTHING about this book, but what I do know about it I LOVE. I'll do my best to tell you guys a synopsis. So there's this brother and sister who are super close, and then the brother is diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Then, the brother and sister fall in love with the same girl, which just makes the brother's bipolar disorder kind of go crazy. Again, not very good but you can always click the Goodreads link. Though that short synopsis SCREAMS diversity.

2. WONDER WOMAN WARBRINGER BY LEIGH BARDUGO

Okay, so I'll admit...I literally do not know a thing about the plot. But you know what I do know?! THAT IT'S ABOUT WONDER WOMAN AND WONDER WOMAN'S THE BEST. AND IT'S WRITTEN BY LEIGH BARDUGO AND LEIGH BARDUGO'S THE BEST. SO GIVE THIS TO ME NOW.

THE SEPTEMBER RELEASES

1. THEY BOTH DIE AT THE END BY ADAM SILVERA

All right I kinda feel like I don't have to do any explaining for this. Not only have I talked about it more than enough on my blog, just about the entire book blogger and BookTuber community has talked about it. Plus it's by Adam Silvera, one of the best people on the planet. So if you still don't know what this book is about, you can always click the Goodreads link as well. Wow. I'm starting to realize how extremely bad these "synopses" I'm giving you are.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

2. INVICTUS BY RYAN GRAUDIN

This is about time traveling thieves and has been described as Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy combined. This is not a drill. I repeat, this is about time traveling thieves and has been described as Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy combined. Anyway, more specifically, Invictus follows a boy named Far, who is the son of time traveling person and a gladiator from Rome 95 AD. Therefore, he was born outside of time and has no birthday. Then, Far opens a black market full of items from different time periods, and I believe the main plot of this book is his heist on the Titanic.

3. MOXIE BY JENNIFER MATTHIU

Basically, Moxie follows a girl named Vivian who creates a feminist zine that is distributed anonymously to her fellow classmates, as there is plenty of sexism in her school. And eventually, it creates an entire revolution. So...YES PLEASE. GIVE THIS TO ME, UM............NOW? 

4. GIRLS MADE OF SNOW AND GLASS BY MELISSA BASHARDOUST

Okay, I'm honestly starting to feel pretty ashamed here. I'M SORRY I JUST PREFER TO GO INTO BOOKS BLINDLY! Thank goodness I put the Goodreads link because if not this post would literally be 100% pointless. BUT I DO KNOW TWO THINGS ABOUT IT. It's about royalty, and it's gay. AND IF THAT ALONE ISN'T ENOUGH TO CONVINCE YOU TO WANT TO READ IT, I DON'T KNOW WHAT WILL.

Series That I've Been Wanting to Start (cue the shame)

Hey guys! I got this idea when I saw Solomon (The Bookish King)'s post on it, which is, obviously, as you can tell by the title, listing some series that I've been meaning to start. Whether they've been out for several years or they're new releases, let's get into the list!

1. THE GRISHA TRILOGY BY LEIGH BARDUGO [goodreads]

I'm guessing most of you are aware that I am downright obsessed with the Six of Crows duology, which is also by Leigh Bardugo. AND I STILL HAVEN'T READ HER OTHER SERIES. I am feeling overwhelmed with shame already and this is only the first on the list.

2. THE LUNAR CHRONICLES BY MARISSA MEYER [goodreads]

I know. I know. This series ended almost two years ago (if you don't include the companion novellas) and the hype surrounding it is undying. Luckily for me, though, the first book Cinder was chosen for the July book-of-the-month for an online book club I'm a part of, Forgotten YA Gems.

3. VENGEANCE ROAD BY ERIN BOWMAN [goodreads]

This is a YA western. I repeat. THIS. IS. A. YA. WESTERN. Okay, that may be literally all I know about the plot... but still. Also, the cover is the beautiful-est thing I have ever seen in my life. And hype. Oh, the hype. I'm going to try to read this book before the sequel, Retribution Rails, comes out later this year.

4. THE MONSTERS OF VERITY BY VICTORIA SCHWAB [goodreads]

When this came out slightly over a year ago, I said to myself, "Well that's something I'll be reading immediately." And look at me now. It still hasn't been read. And the second and final book has been released. What is life I swear I'll read it ok???

5. THE ARCHIVED BY VICTORIA SCHWAB [goodreads]

This. Series. Has. Been. Out. For. So. Long. Not only is the hype around this book/series practically infinite, it's also by Victoria/V.E. Schwab, who is one of my favorite authors. Also, later this year there was supposed to be a third book coming out, The Returned, but it turns out it'll only be released if enough people read this series. So that gives me yet another to finally pick this series up.

6. THE REMNANT CHRONICLES BY MARY E. PEARSON [goodreads]

This series has been out for three years and I've had the intention of reading it for three years. *curls up in a smol ball of shame* I need to just pick this up already. THERE ARE NO MORE EXCUSES. If I don't read at least the first book by the end of the year, I'm giving all of you the right to shame me all you want.

A Very Sad May Wrap Up + Ambitious June TBR

Hey guys! A while ago on Twitter I asked if I should do wrap ups & TBRs on my blog and almost all of you said yes, so here I am with my first! The reason I say "a very sad May wrap up" in the title is because... I only read two books this month. I suppose I do have a bit of an excuse, though, because it was the end of the year and THERE WERE SO MANY FINALS AND PROJECTS AND AHHHH. NO TIME TO READ! Anyway, now that I've been rambling for a while, here's my wrap up and TBR:

THE MAY WRAP UP

1. THE SCORPIO RACES BY MAGGIE STIEFVATER

RATING: 5/5 stars

This was a buddy read with a Goodreads friend of mine, Chloe!

Fast-paced, vivid writing, original plot, and lovable characters! Adored this!

2. WE ARE OKAY BY NINA LACOUR

RATING: 2/5

Ridiculously beautiful writing but just. So. BORING. Also wasn't the biggest fan of the characters.

THE JUNE TBR

Now that I have absolutely ZERO school this month I should be able to read lots more!

1. ELIZA AND HER MONSTERS BY FRANCESCA ZAPPIA

I received this in my May OwlCrate box, and before I got it I hadn't heard much of anything about this book,  but I read the synopsis and it sounds SO GOOD! It's basically about this girl Eliza who, in real life, never speaks and everyone thinks is a weirdo. Online, she is the creator of an extremely popular web comic, Monstrous Sea. No one knows this at her school until a new boy, Wallace, shows up writing Monstrous Sea fanfiction. I'm currently reading this one and I really like it!

2. WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI BY SANDHYA MENON

As I'm guessing a lot of you know this book has been ALL OVER the book community for MONTHS now since people first heard about it. And, I agree. IT SOUNDS SO FREAKING ADORABLE. To put it simply it's about Dimple, who has everything planned out. She just graduated high school and now she is MORE than ready for a break from her parents, especially her mother who keeps talking about her "Ideal Indian Husband" she needs. Dimple finds a web developing program over the summer, and her parents send her in the hopes she'll meet someone. Rishi, on the other hand, is a hopeless romantic. His parents tell him that his future wife will be going to the same summer program, and he cannot WAIT to try and woo her. I read a chapter of it last night and I already love it!

3. THE RAVEN BOYS BY MAGGIE STIEFVATER

I'm part of a Goodreads group, Forgotten YA Gems, and this is the book of the month. This is an extremely popular book and it's been around sense 2012 so I'm not going to go over the synopsis, but if you want to know what this book is about, here's the Goodreads page. This is a reread for me, and I'm excited to pick this up again, not only because I love it but also because I still have yet to read the rest of the series...

4. THIS SAVAGE SONG BY VICTORIA SCHWAB

I know, I know. I still haven't read this. This book is by one of my favorite authors, plus the sequel comes out June thirteenth. It has a really original plot which I love. In an extremely simplified version, it's pretty much about a world where violence produces monsters.

5. SALT TO THE SEA BY RUTA SEPETYS

I've been meaning to pick this up since I got this book about a year ago, and since then the hype has still not died down. I know it'll probably break me but it'll be in the best way. The thing is, I know nothing about this book besides it's a WWII story and it follows four teens. It's a pretty short book and the chapters are REALLY short, so I should be able to get through it pretty quick.

6. QUEENS OF GEEK BY JEN WILDE

This book came out a couple months ago and the buzz about it WILL. NOT. STOP. So, it's about these three friends - Charlie, a vlogger, queer girl, and actress coming out with a new movie soon; Taylor, who is on the autism spectrum and has a crush on the third friend, Jamie, who all go to a convention together. Not only does the synopsis sound intriguing and the hype keeps on coming, but this is super diverse as well which just makes it even better! Also, over the summer I'm trying to read as many books as possible because I won't have nearly as much time during the school year, and this is a very short book and I should be able to get through it really quick.

And that's it for now! I know this may not seem that "ambitious" because there's only six books, but I am a slow reader okay. In July I'm going on a plane four times which means READING TIME!! Books I NEED to Get to This Summer!

Hey guys! I know there's still about a month until summer, but I CANNOT WAIT ANYMORE. So today, I'll be giving you the four (I'm the biggest mood-reader ever okay) books that I need to get to this summer.

1. THE REST OF THE TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE SERIES BY JENNY HAN

About two years ago or so I read the first book, To All the Boys I've Loved Before, and I really enjoyed it! But I never continued with the series. By now, I've forgotten almost everything that happens, so I really want to reread this, especially because at least for me I prefer to read happy, feel-good books during the summer and this is just that. Then I will for sure read book two, P.S. I Still Love You, and then I think the concluding book that JUST came out, Always and Forever, Lara Jean.

2. THIS SAVAGE SONG BY VICTORIA SCHWAB

If you don't know, I am completely and utterly obsessed with the Shades of Magic trilogy by Victoria/V.E. Schwab. And this book sounds super awesome and original! I know this post will be full of rambling, so here's the Goodreads link for it. Plus, the sequel (and concluding book, it's a duology) comes out in mid-June.

3. WE ARE THE ANTS BY SHAUN DAVID HUTCHINSON

I AM SO ASHAMED I STILL HAVE YET TO READ THIS BOOK. I NEED TO READ IT NOW. Guys this is just so hyped up and it sounds so good (if you somehow haven't heard of it - here's the Goodreads link).

4. GEORGIA PEACHES AND OTHER FORBIDDEN FRUIT BY JAYE ROBIN BROWN

This book just sounds like the PERFECT summer read. I can just tell from the cover and the synopsis (again - Goodreads link) and the reviews that it is going to be super happy, feel-good, and just all around adorable.
